Dr Ian Jackson is currently the Special School Network Consultant at Sydney Catholic Schools as well as the Foundational Principal for the Eileen O’Connor Catholic College, Lewisham.
Prior to this appointment, Dr Jackson was Head of the Special Education Division and Senior Professional Officer-Policy, Planning and Equity at the Catholic Education Office, Parramatta; Director of Community Care at Anglicare Sydney; and NSW/ACT State Director for Mission Australia.
Dr Jackson has Masters degrees in curriculum development and psychology as well as a doctorate in education. A particular focus of his research has been the role played by principals and school leadership teams in engaging staff around pedagogy, culture and mission in promoting inclusive practices and quality outcomes for students with disabilities.
In 2014 Dr Jackson developed the Special Education Strategic Framework for the Catholic Education Office, Sydney. He has been a secondary school teacher and principal, has lectured in Special Education at the Australian Catholic University and has been involved in a range of community advocacy initiatives for people with disabilities over many years.
